We have spent the last few months putting some nice design touches into our new house – sofas, lights and coffee tables. Picking coffee tables involved driving around a bunch of industrial estates in Dublin over many weekends, but we finally picked two.
Main coffee table
The front living room is the one that we tend to use when we entertain guests so we liked the idea of getting nested tables that could be either pulled out or stored together out of the way as needed.
We stumbled upon Swoon Editions online who make custom high-quality furniture. They work with manufacturers all over the world who make the items and ship them to their UK distribution centres after a few weeks. The only problem is that they don’t deliver to Ireland directly – you can arrange a courier yourself, but we have relatives in Belfast who were able to receive them for us.
This one has a large rectangular table and two smaller square nested tables, and is part of their Sullivan range which is manufactured in India.
Evening coffee table
The darker of our living rooms is the one that we tend to use in the evening, so this is more likely to be used as a dining table while we don’t have a proper one yet.
We went into EZ Living in Sandyford where had almost too much choice, but eventually picked this coffee table made from reclaimed pine.
The chip in the side of the table above was when I tried to use it as a workbench to saw through a plastic tube. Not a great idea it turns out!
