It’s been a few weeks since I posted but there’s been plenty going on in the house with a new custom-made study! We had painted the study a great deep blue colour and the before and after photos show how different it looked already. The next step was to sort some shelving and a desk.

We went to IKEA and the usual furniture shops in Dublin and browsed many more online but nothing quite fit what we wanted. We were looking for something that fit perfectly and used all of the small space available, so we went the custom route.

After emailing a bunch of carpenters for quotes we settled on the Dublin-based WoodMode and before we knew it we had Alper – the highly energetic Turkish owner – running around our house throwing out ideas.

We had a chimney breast to deal with so we had floating shelves built out of ash installed to be flush with the wall. As a nice touch we added soft LED down-lighting built into the shelves – this looks great in the evening! We then had a full width desk built from a solid wood butcher block style kitchen worktop. We paired it with a smart office chair from Cult Furniture which was delivered from the UK.

Hope you like the pictures!
